We are also featuring additional new music throughout the evening.

Among our featured players are:

Grace Askew - Jupe - Grace Askew and the Black Market Goods
Our mutual friend, Davis Coen (above), responded to a question about what he loves about her music on the CD "Grace Askew and Black Market Goods" by saying, "I think it's powerful because it's simple and the songwriting and guitar and vocals are natural and nothing seems forced. That's something that I admire most about her because I feel myself consciously trying to achieve that when it just seems born into her."

Shelley Hardinge, the Hip-Shakin' Mama - Rooster Stew - Reclaim Your Land
Our Hip-Shakin' Mama from our Northern neighbor, Canada, has had quite a time of it with her music being pirated illegally (redundant, but you cannot stress the impact of illegal downloading enough when it comes to artists not being able to make a living from what they do). How about be a sport and get her music legally via ITunes? The CD is "Reclaim Your Land."

Blues Moon Radio loves our home-based Carolina Blues musicians - so we want to share our musical treasures with the world:

Gaffney, S.C. musician Jeff Gates from "You Make Me" has impressed me not only with his music, but because he is just a darned nice, polite fellow.

North Carolina's Jon Shain Trio entertained me on my way up to Charlotte lately - so much so, I listened to them on the way back as well. Old-time Blues sound with some rowdy, hokum lyrics - fun! A bit of a departure for Jon and I loved every minute... twice!

This is the time of year Blues Moon Radio focuses on contemporary Blues. So ship me your CD, let me know if your lyrics are FCC compliant or not (song by song basis) and we'll see if we can get your music featured, too. If I have your CD already, it might be waiting to spring from the pack and get on the air... call, e-mail or FB me, sweetie and remind me to go pull your gem from the hoi polloi. I'm in a reviewing mood, babies.

We are in mourning over the loss of Jerry Leiber of Leiber and Stoller. We will fill the show with some tunes in tribute to the sheer magnitude of impact their songs had on music (and me personally - probably you, too). Tears are being shed. Tears of gratitude and sorrow.

Y'all take care and treasure every moment.

Blues Moon Radio Show Playlist January 25, 2011 - Drink Small

Happy birthday to late January Bluesmen and women - with an especially hearty Happy Birthday to South Carolina's own Blues Doctor, Drink Small...

You can see him perform at his Birthday Bash in Bishopville Friday night - and he'll make an appearance at Mac's on Main in Columbia Saturday night...

We will welcome him to the second hour of Blues Moon Radio - live in studio!

Starting us out tonight will be some artists with late January birthdays...

Lead Belly - Gallis Pole b/w You Can't Mistreat Me
Snooks Eaglin - Country Boy Down in New Orleans
Eva Taylor - Organ Grinder
Doug Quattlebaum - If You've Ever Been Mistreated
Big Mojo Ele(a)m - Special Kind of Love
Bob Corritore with TomCat Courtney - Sundown San Diego
Guitar Shorty - Old School
Etta James - I'll Take Care of You b/w Only Women Bleed
Sleepy John Estes - Down South Blues
Little Mack Simmons - Blues for Atomic-H

Our live interview with Drink Small [www.myspace.com/drinksmallblues] and Moses from Mystic Vibrations was a blast! Drink was in his element with his "Drinkisms" as he touted his new 5 song CD, called "Drinkisms," which features the Mystic Vibrations band members. The merging of Blues and Reggae took a natural flow on that CD - especially the cut "Jamaican Blues."

We wish Drink and the band great success with the CD and tour... there is also a Music Maker Foundation CD [http://www.musicmaker.org/news_post/drink-small-the-real-blues-doctor/ ] featuring Drink that fans will want to have in their collections. Drink Small was given an honorary Ph.D. in October of 2010, so he really is a Blues Doctor now... regardless, he is a one-of-a-kind treasure - one whom we at Blues Moon Radio are so glad to call a friend and welcome on the air. "Still Great at 78! - Cannot wait - because at 79 he's going to be mighty fine!" if I might toss out one of my own "Drinkisms!"

Thanks again and VERY happy birthday ... please check out one of his birthday celebrations: Bishopville Opera House Friday night, Mac's on Main (Columbia SC) Saturday night and Feb 5, 2011 he will be at the 145 Club in Winnsboro S.C. Come out and support a living legend!

We didn't have time to complete our "end of January" birthdays ... so tune in next week when you will hear:
Buddy Moss - Jealous Hearted Man
Elmore James - Sho' Nuff I Do
Beale Streeters with Bobby Blue Bland - Lovin' Blues
Hot Lips Page - My Gal is Gone
Paul Gayten - The Music Goes 'Round and 'Round
Eddie Taylor - Bad Boy
Ruth Brown - Wild Wild Young Men
Roosevelt Sykes - Music is my Business
Charlie Musselwhite - Trouble No More

and much, much more!

Thanks for listening... hope you all enjoyed it half as much as I did bringing it to you!
Clair DeLune
and RockyDawg, Blues Defender (co-producer and handsome one of our lil'pack).

Blues Moon Radio Playlist Sept. 7, 2010

Good evening...  the playlist will be updated throughout the show (6-8 p.m.) so please keep refreshing your browser to see the changes.

This week's show will feature many of the artists who were born in September... if we cannot finish them all, we'll endeavor to complete the list next week... never give up, huh?

Sorry to let her fans know that Robin Rogers is not doing well - this update was posted a few hours ago -

Robin Rogers

MEDICAL UPDATE: Last week Robin was to undergo TIPS surgery. A CT scan prior to the procedure revealed a cancerous tumor which is untreatable. Robin is at home now and hospice has been called in. Tony and family respectfully ask that you do not stop by or call. They need private time to be on their own.

Ironically, I just received Robin's newest CD as I stopped at the post office on the way up to the station tonight. I'll play something from it toward the last of the show.

May God bestow his kindest blessings upon Robin, her family, friends and fans.
