29th year begins for Blues Moon Radio 8/28/18 6 p.m.

Hello, Blues Moon Radio listeners!

In less than a week we'll return to the airwaves at WUSC-FM (www.wusc.sc.edu) to bring you the 29th year of Blues Moon with Clair DeLune as your host!

It was a long, hot summer and my aspiration did not match my perspiration in regard to all I wanted to accomplish on hiatus, but we're rested and ready to be tested, and never bested!

We're kicking off with the week's birthdays followed by a tribute to Aretha Franklin (station policy prevents us from playing a Top Hit usually, but the two I've picked were over 50 years ago - hard to believe - and they are not the usual picks that others have been lauding her with - these are two seminal hits that I feel shaped the burgeoning women's movement - one romantically and the other by instilling a spine and not taking bad treatment - and no, it is not RESPECT... but that is a great one!).

For our theme, we're spinning off of upcoming Labor Day - so work songs are the order - and you'll love them! Here's a portion of what we plan to play you (some surprises to come!):

We hope you missed us as much as we missed bringing the show to you ... we are so happy to be back! Tune in 6-8 p.m. ET/USA (-5 GMT)... www.wusc.sc.edu, then click listen. Sonny Boy Jackson and I will spin you something special~!

Clair DeLune (at right): author of South Carolina Blues, longtime professor of Roots and Blues Music History and your host since 1990 of Blues Moon Radio; along with her valiant co-host since 2017, Sonny Boy Red Jackson (at left, doing his best RCA Dog impression).

In the meantime, if you feel as if you need some great Blues music... don't forget our underwriters:
Our supporters:
As always we thank our long-time underwriters, who help bring great music to the Midlands all year around, because we could not imagine our show without their input and support:  Papa Jazz Record Shoppe, Word of Mouth Productions AND South Carolina Blues.
