Tender Tributes tonight on Blues Moon Radio 4/17/18

April is national food month, so we will focus on Food Themes for Blues Moon Radio next week - lots of cool things to do then, and for the last show before summer hiatus (May 1), we'll have "MayDay! MayDay!" - a show about things going wrong.
Tonight on www.wusc.sc.edu between 6-8 p.m., enjoy these themes:
Tonight we say adieu to two different, but both amazing, musical icons.

Tender Goodbyes:
Jerry Cover - inspired photographer and music collector and a friend who donated a fabulous photo to the compilation of musical artists photos for my book, South Carolina Blues.

Deborah Coleman - Piedmont-based award-winning Blueswoman who died far too young.

PROMOS - we have two pairs of tix to each of these events

INTERVIEW w/Webb Wilder in front of his appearance at Legion 6 Whaley at Pickens 4/20

Cornbread Festival w/Mac Arnold and Danielle Howle 4/21

Stay tuned for the cue to call in to win!
And don't forget to shop at Papa Jazz on RECORD STORE DAY! 4/21
Historic references will fill the rest of the show roster:
April 17:
1790 Benjamin Franklin dies (okay, this is more garage/pop than blues, but hey... not too many songs about old Ben, ya know?)
1815 Volcanic eruption kills 80,000 (song by the Volcanos)
1960 Eddie Cochran dies, Gene Vincent injured, in UK car accident (oh, we're going to the mat on this one - and staying in Rockabilly world for a bit)
1961 The Bay of Pigs invasion begins (we had a direction to go, but with the missile firings of this week, we deleted this... scary!)
1964 Ford Mustang debuts at World’s Fair (apologies to bands who hate this as a request, but we happen to have Ford's Mustang as one of our favorite cars, and not just because we love ponies).
1970 Apollo 13 returns to Earth (Houston: we have a problem; but so glad they made it home)

Thanks for tuning in - PLEASE support great radio by donating to WUSC's Blues Moon Radio by clicking the secure donate button on the page site at www.wusc.sc.edu; then please add your name and that you support Blues Moon with Clair DeLune! We rely on listener support as a volunteer radio station. Thank you! We have $7K to raise. Every dollar makes a difference and most goes to paying artists for the use of their amazing music. Pay the artists to keep the Blues alive, y'all. xoxo Love Love!

We'll have an interview with Webb Wilder, and the following songs:
