7/25/17 on Blues Moon Radio
Guest of honor, Alonzo V. Wilson (L); Laura Marcus Green (C), cultural Folklife director of McKissick Museum and SCAC; and your Blues Moon host, Clair DeLune (R). |
Our playlist will kick off with music from the series, which is based in New Orleans post Katrina, and the music is amazing (isn't all New Orleans music wonderful!). The selections are special because the people behind this show are the same who did The Wire and Homicide Life on the Streets, which I credit with beginning the trend toward amazing scores on television - confession: I used to dream that I'd be asked for advice about great songs to paint the scene or the mood... has YET to happen, but a gal can dream, right? LOL). Moving on to the real subject:
Alonzo V. Wilson is the award-winning costumer for Treme and - tying into another past life of mine, I used to tailor show clothes for bands, so this will be an iconic guest on so many levels for Clair DeLune.
Where do the cultural worlds of clothing style and music and lifestyle collide - and what are the impacts - as well as how he manages the challenges; what inspires him and where he will be working next - all that and more in the first segment of Blues Moon Radio tonight - then you will hear about the exhibit and the opening reception next week on August 1 - you must be a McKissick member, so please join and support one of the best museums anywhere!

Tune in at 6 - we stream at www.wusc.sc.edu (click LISTEN tab) - and we'll also finish the Papa Jazz artist of the month for Willie Dixon (next month is Jimmy Witherspoon) and feature the Word of Mouth artist of the week, The Subdudes - one that has special meaning to me on today's date... sad remembrances, but much love.
Check out all our supporters below... and please tell them you heard about them on Blues Moon Radio!
Enjoy the show - we thank you for tuning in.

As always we thank our long-time underwriters, who help bring great music to the Midlands all year around, because we could not imagine our show without their input and support: Papa Jazz Record Shoppe and Word of Mouth Productions. You can link to these orgs by clicking on the visuals...
