Playlist for March 27, 2018 on Blues Moon Radio

Decades ago, Blues Moon Radio's host lived in our nation's capital - a stone's throw from the magical cherry blossom trees - and was enamored with the stately beauty of the city.

Over 100 years ago today, the cherry blossom trees were gifted to the USA, so tonight, we celebrate that event from 1912 by kicking off our show with a celebration of Blues songs that feature songs with "cherry" in the title. There were more than I'd have imagined, and we did not even include all the ones I gathered up.

Other historical events connected to 3/27 include:
1829   Jackson appoints John Eaton as secretary of war and starts scandal
1912   Japanese cherry trees planted along the Potomac
1945   Germans launch last of their V-2s
1958   Khrushchev becomes Soviet premier
1964   Earthquake rocks Alaska *
*We don't happen to own one single disaster song for earthquakes, and I guess we could have gone the "shake" route, but hey - we got references to the rest of the historical dates. Interesting side note: I know ten people who were in that earthquake, and I've been in three myself - but none of that magnitude.

The main segment of Blues Moon features the following songs and artists of the week:

Of course, we're giving away another set of free passes to the April 20th Webb Wilder show at the Richland Legion 6 at Whaley and Pickens in Columbia SC - tune in for details. And it's Easter and Passover, so we have some songs titles that reference both of those holidays - spring will spring eventually (brrrr, it's still cold in our usually balmy South).

So, we wish you well and hope you think the show is swell. Enjoy!
