1942 tribute on Blues Moon Radio October 24, 2017

We're swinging back 75 years to do a 1942 tribute on Blues Moon Radio tonight.

The number one hits from autumn 1942 included:
1942
October 24: "Take It and Git" — Andy Kirk and His Clouds of Joy (1 week) - DECCA 4366
October 31: "Mr. Five by Five — Ella Mae Morse with Freddie Slack and His Orchestra (2 weeks)* - CAPITOL 115
November 7: "Trav'lin' Light" — Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra featuring Billie Holiday (3 weeks)* - CAPITOL 116
November 14: "Stormy Monday Blues" — Earl Hines and His Orchestra (1 week) - BLUEBIRD 11567
November 28: "When the Lights Go On Again" — Lucky Millinder and His Orchestra (2 weeks)* - DECCA 18496

Once we finish with those we'll play some coffee and tobacco songs - November is Great American SmokeOut Month, so we're getting you in the mood to give up tobacco ... but hey, we're on a swing where coffee is considered good for you again, so drink up, Java-Jivers!

Here's the playlist:

But, first we'll kick off the show with local artists JellyRoll and Delicious Dish for our roots music segment - they are not Blues, but they have a wonderful mid-60s (almost garage) lilt to their music.

Here are some links about their music and events:

As always we also want to share our gratitude for our long-time underwriters, who help bring great music to the Midlands all year around, because we could not imagine our show without their input and support:  Papa Jazz Record Shoppe and Word of Mouth Productions. You can link to these orgs by clicking on the visuals...
