Playlist for Aug. 9, 2016 Blues Moon Radio

Tonight's show is a personal tribute to someone. While it paints a picture for me and those close to me, the magic of music makes it possible for something that has great meaning to me for a one reason to provide a great mix of obscure and familiar artists singing and playing songs that Blues Moon Radio's listeners can enjoy for another reason: the pure enjoyment of the music and the education about new and unusual songs and artists.

One of the missions of Blues Moon Radio is to bring listeners music that has not been played before on radio (at least not this radio station), so the search for roots music is relentless and ongoing. This week we culled from searches made as long as two decades ago, and as recently as Sunday to compile this array of songs. RockyDawg and I hope you enjoy it, although I must admit, he slept through most of the process to bring it to you - yet, he still inspires it all!

The Word of Mouth Productions' Artists of the Week are Randall Bramlett and Geoff Achison whose birthdate is coming up this week. We'll play Tell Me Something from Jammin' in the Attic.

Somewhere in the (as yet unposted) archives is a great interview with Geoff. Blues Moon Radio's YouTube page keeps whining for attention, and I've got it on my "SOON" list! Thanks for your patience. Part of it is a techno-glitch yet to be resolved; another is sheer time to go through hundreds of hours of audio tape and convert to video format for YouTube. Sigh.

Tonight's tribute music will come from this list:

Our fill-in list will flesh out the rest of the two hours (some of these have been played on previous week's shows).

Tune in at www.wusc.sc.edu from 6-8 for WUSC-FM and Blues Moon Radio - thanks for listening!

As always we thank our underwriters, who help bring great music to the Midlands, because we could not imagine our show without their input and support:  Papa Jazz Record Shoppe; the UU Coffeehouse; California Republic Stand Up Paddleboards in Leesville near Lake Murray; and Word of Mouth Productions, who present the Columbia Blues Festival each autumn - hold Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 open for a great show!
