Playlist for Tuesday, August 23, 2016 with special guest host, Sleepy Boy Hawkins

Blues Moon Radio show and playlist for August 23, 2016

This week featuring special guest host, Sleepy Boy Hawkins of Blues Unlimited.

For our second hour, we have a very special guest host who is sharing his expertise in a program about prison life in Mississippi. I am pleased to welcome Steve Franz, author of The Amazing Secret History of Elmore James, and - as his alter ego, Sleepy Boy Hawkins - host of the weekly radio show, Blues Unlimited.

Steve will guide you through the second hour on Blues Moon Radio on WUSC FM (click here for the link to stream, then click tab marked "listen"). I am so pleased to have someone who has written an academic book and who shares my interest in the history of the music and its players as well as the songs. This is radio that lands on the line between education and entertainment - you will enjoy hearing it!

Tune in on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. ET/USA, with his contribution starting a little before 7 p.m.

We'll also feature our Word of Mouth Productions' Artist of the Week, Etta Baker, with her classic "One Dime Blues," after we play some other great Blues... these songs are compiled from earlier shows with leftover songlists... we will postpone playing Paul Geremia until a later date when we can feature him as an artist of the week.

Thanks again to Steve for a compelling show addition. Thanks to all our listeners for tuning in each week. Be sure to put Steve's podcast on your calendar each week, too!

As always we thank our underwriters, who help bring great music to the Midlands, because we could not imagine our show without their input and support:  Papa Jazz Record Shoppe; the UU Coffeehouse; California Republic Stand Up Paddleboards in Leesville near Lake Murray; and Word of Mouth Productions, who present the Columbia Blues Festival each autumn - hold Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 open for a great show!
