Blues Moon Radio Playlist addendum for Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013: Lincoln's Gettysburg address

Tuesday's Blues Moon Radio Show has another important presidential addendum to tonight's show, which is dedicated to the memory of John F. Kennedy (see previous post for playlist).

This is the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg address. A handwritten page of amended copy (called the Hay document) is appended here.

Lincoln's Gettysburg address
It is fitting to pay tribute to President Abraham Lincoln on this august anniversary, especially because he was instrumental in securing freedom for those who were enslaved, and to include a Lead Belly song about him as our final song in the presidential tribute. The fact that these two presidents, who fought for civil liberties as a core part of their presidencies - and both were assassinated - makes it even more important as the work to achieve justice, liberty and equality for all continues - 150 years after this succinctly moving and eloquent oration - and 50 years after Civil Rights came to the forefront of politics.

We respectfully add:
Abraham Lincoln by Lead Belly to tonight's tribute show.

Thank you, as always, for listening.

Clair
