The Exes Show, featuring Billy Price on Blues Moon Radio Oct. 17, 2017

This week we are very proud to bring you "The Exes Show," featuring Billy Price as our honorary guest host of Blues Moon Radio Oct. 17, 2017.

The idea for this show came about after I complimented Billy Price for his work, and we were chatting about the number of heartbreak and "leaving you" songs that are out there. He very kindly agreed to contribute to the show with an intro, much of his own collection, and a suggestion that I had also thought of: Little Charlie and the Nightcats' "My Next Ex-Wife." We could not be more excited to have him join us tonight - we've spent many an hour listening to his amazing music through the 40+ years I've been a fan of his work.

Billy Price first attracted national attention for his soulful voice during his three-year association with guitar phenomenon, Roy Buchanan. Price is the vocalist on two of Buchanan's LPs, "That's What I'm Here For" and "Livestock." Shortly afterwards, Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band emerged and enjoyed success with "You Left the Water Running" from "Is it Over?" followed by another powerhouse LP, "They Found Me Guilty."

The band toured widely across the nation, and appeared frequently at clubs like Desperado's in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.), which is where Clay and Price recorded a live LP in 1982 to standing room only crowds.

Recently Price accepted a Blues Foundation Award for his CD, "This Time for Real," which he recorded with great Soul and Blues performer, Otis Clay, shortly after Clay's death. It was produced by renowned guitarist and former member of Roomful of Blues, Duke Robillard for the VizzTone label.

For tonight's Blues Moon Radio show, we've compiled a slew of songs concerning impending breakups, breakups in action, ex-post-facto and in flagrante delicto breakups - with quite a few inferences about cheating just to get really down and dirty with it.

For you few who are still married to your elementary or high school sweetheart and happy about it, please run - don't walk - to a fortress of solitude where you cannot hear this show. It is our hope that your union will be preserved. You give us all hope and inspiration, such as it is in our jaded viewpoints.

But for the rest of us, who have been there and perhaps even "done that," well, grab whatever gives you the most comfort in your sorry state, and hold on for dear life. Tears are going to flow.

Our Papa Jazz Records' Artist of the Month is Jimmy Reed, and Artist of the Week is Billy Price.

Our Word of Mouth Productions' Artist of the Week is Robin Rogers.

And our South Carolina Blues' Artists of the Week are the Blues Brokers, featuring Marv Ward and Jim Wallstreet, who are in South Carolina Blues on Arcadia Press, and who will be at Foxfield Bar and Grille on Howard Street in Columbia, S.C. on Friday evening.
