Blues Moon Radio playlist: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 - DDay Flyboys, Workin', Mojos and the Wolf

Tonight we take a trip back in time... we'll start with some music of the 1940s - yes, the kind they made during WWII: Swing.

We'll have an interview with Dave McIntosh, a member of the SC Historic Aviation Foundation (www.schistoricaviation.org/) about the event they are hosting on Saturday, June 7th from about 6-9 p.m. featuring a genuine B-25 aircraft and music from the Dick Goodwin Swing Band. Reservations are not required, but call and let them know you are coming so they can get a good head count - the $25/person, $40/couple ticket includes dinner and dancing to swing music from the '40s.

A great poster of the event:

When the music picks back up after tonight's interview with Mr. McIntosh, we'll round up a few more songs from that era in tribute and thanks to our WWII veterans and their families.

Here is the playlist for that portion of the show:

I saw a plaintive FB post from a musician who said he got a royalty statement for $ .01 - yep, one red (or is that Blues?) cent. Frankly, that just broke my heart. Coming from a great musician with a TON of talent, it shocked me. Mouth open in shock.

So I picked out a few musicians I think should get paid more and we'll play a lot of artists who are contemporary on the scene - and man, they are red hot.

I'll be doing more of that this summer, so if you are not on this list, holler and I'll put on you an upcoming one (see Facebook/BluesMoonRadio/About for submission guidelines and address).

We hope that boosts the check values a bit. That's just my two cents worth of help - probably literally. If you know me, you know that I think artists and musicians and other talented folks are grossly underpaid and undervalued. I have no solution but to lament that fact: often and loudly.

Here is the playlist for the rest of the show... what we don't get on this week, we'll carry over.

Our show starts to wind down with our tribute to Drink Small, a weekly feature because he is older and able to perform less often. Stay tuned to this site (and the FB page) for more info on products he'll be offering to his special fans.

And finally, we'll ramp up our tribute to our Blues Moon Radio and Papa Jazz Record Shoppe Artist of the Month. This month we pay special tribute to Howlin' Wolf - here is the playlist for the second part of the show.

Thanks for tuning in
