Blues Moon Radio emerges from hiatus!

Clair DeLune and Blues Moon Radio emerge from vacation...

Relaxed, refreshed and ready to go!

I spent the time off helping others, getting some major agendas achieved and listening to lots of new music, so Tuesday's show will be filled with fresh content - while the focus of Blues Moon Radio is primarily historical, we lean toward new music in the late summer and early fall as we move into promotion for the Fall Blues Festival season.

Speaking of Blues Fests, there are some humdingers in the region and we will do a story on each of the best fests as we get closer to the time for them (they usually roll out regionally beginning in mid-Sept through late October).

So, I'm glad to be coming back to the studio at WUSC-FM and HD-1 Columbia (SC) where we have a live show, that also streams. We are in our 22nd year, and for those of you who might not be longtime listeners, I have hosted the show (then called simply The Blues Show, which predated the start of The Blues Moon) since 1990. I taught courses at the University of South Carolina in Blues History and Appreciation; History of Rock and Roll; Women in Popular Music of the 20th Century; and Jump, Swing and Boogie-Woogie. WUSC is chartered as an educational station, so we have a vested interest in educational programming and a desire to serve the public's interest.

Again, we are a terrestrial station, fully licensed through the FCC, and we were the second station in the nation to stream over the internet... you can tune in the station (which features alternative programming) world-wide at: http://wusc.sc.edu where you can also find the station schedule. Recommended programs if you like Blues and Roots programming include Saturday morning's Red Bank Bar and Grill (Americana) and Rick Wrigley's Soul and Blues show (see schedule for times and dates). Kyle Petersen also puts on a great Americana and Roots program.

But for now, mark Tuesday is Bluesday on your To-Do list... We'll want every one of your minutes between 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday because... we do this program for you, the listener... otherwise I could just stay home and listen to my recordings and not struggle with that university parking tsuris! :) But... keep those cards and letters (e-mails, facebook comments, tweets, etc) coming in... it makes the vulture hunt for parking worthwhile! :)

Stay Blues!
